Congressional Visit Day (CVD) 2025

On April 2-3, 2025, The Material Advantage Student Program hosted its annual Congressional Visits Day (CVD) in Washington, D.C. Each year, this event offers materials science and engineering students the unique opportunity to engage with Congressional decision-makers to advocate for the importance of funding for basic science, engineering, and technology.

Across Capitol Hill, 36 students from 16 universities participated in congressional visits throughout the day. They shared personal experiences, emphasized the impact of federal research funding on their education and career goals, and brought visibility to the materials science and engineering community. Many participants teamed up with students from other universities in their state or district to visit offices together.
