Charles W. Finkl Scholarship Program

Attention Material Advantage Student Members! Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation (FIERF) has established the Charles W. Finkl Scholarship Program to assist you with select majors, pursue their postsecondary education. You must be a sophomore (a student entering into your junior year in the fall), be a full-time student, majoring in chemical, computer, electrical, industrial, materials, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering at an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or above, on a 4.0 scale.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

I am an Undergraduate student in my 3rd year of Engineering at Institute Of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, pursuing my BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY degree in CERAMIC ENGINEERING.
The Field of Advanced Ceramic applications and material properties has always held my interest. Having worked as an intern at INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KANPUR, during May-June 2010 and having covered Introduction to Bio Ceramic materials, different aspects of material properties, Sintering and analysis techniques during the Internship.
The University of BHU is ranked first in India in field of academic and research output.
The admission takes place throught the IIT- joint entrance examination
that screens 4.7 lakh students to admit 5000 in the prestigious IITs
and IT-BHU.
I am currently in the 6h semester (3rd year) at IT-BHU and have a CGPA of 7.9/10 on absolute scale in my first and second year combined.
My coursework, here, has provided me the necessary theoretical base of the field.My curriculum comprised of courses in ceramic materials including electro and magneto ceramics, refractory materials and other basics.
A project or research work would provide me an opportunity to acquire the background necessary for me to further actualize my interests in this field.
