Interfaces and Surfaces: Exploring and Experiencing Science
This summer, Clemson University will host eleven students from May 28th to August 3rd, 2012. The research and program activities part of this REU site are designed to help participants have a positive research and social experience, and to encourage them to pursue graduate studies and research careers. Participants will be mentored by faculty from a diverse set of departments (Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, BioEngineering, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering) on projects that focus on exploring the role of interfaces and surfaces on system response. All students will also have the opportunity to present their work at a closing poster symposium and also submit abstracts to national conferences. Three students from the summer of 2011 have already submitted abstracts based on their research findings and are presenting their work during the 2011-2012 academic year.
The deadline for submitting applications is February 25, 2012. Visit the Program Website for information about the program and application materials.
For more information, please contact the program coordinator: Dr. Molly Kennedy or by phone at 864-656-5349.
